Description:
We conducted 3D laser scanning of Boilers A and B at the KEK Kosovo Power Plant during a scheduled shutdown and overhaul period. The purpose was to support deformation analysis for a feasibility study by providing accurate, documented 3D data for assessing the existing condition and structural deformation of the boilers.
Scope of Work:
1. 3D Laser Scanning:
Performed comprehensive 3D laser scanning of Boilers A and B during the scheduled shutdown period.
Captured detailed point cloud data to accurately document the existing condition and geometry of the boiler structures.
2. Data Processing:
Processed the captured laser scanning data to generate accurate and usable 3D data.
Created an As-Built 3D CAD model based on the captured point cloud data for further engineering analysis.
3. Deformation Analysis:
Performed deformation analysis by comparing the Detailed Design CAD model with the As-Built CAD model created from the scanned data.
Compared cross-sections at 50 cm intervals to identify and measure deviations between the original design and existing conditions.
Provided documented data and analysis to support the feasibility study and future engineering assessments.
Key Outcomes
Accurate 3D Models: Developed high-precision 3D data and an As-Built CAD model of Boilers A and B, providing a reliable basis for further technical analysis.
Detailed Deformation Analysis: Compared the Detailed Design CAD model with the As-Built conditions to identify and measure structural deviations.
Improved Inspection Accuracy: Used consistent 50 cm cross-section intervals to provide a structured approach for detecting and analyzing deformation.
Feasibility Study Support: Provided VPC GROUP with documented 3D data and analysis to support the feasibility study, future maintenance planning, and engineering decisions.
Through 3D laser scanning, data processing, and comparison of the Detailed Design and As-Built CAD models, we provided VPC GROUP with reliable information about the existing condition of Boilers A and B. The resulting data supported detailed deformation analysis and provided a digital foundation for future inspections, maintenance planning, and engineering assessments.
